A crucial meeting aimed at improving public services and sanitation management in the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) area was held today at the MBMC headquarters under the chairmanship of Hon. Commissioner and Administrator Mr. Radhabinod Sharma (IAS). The meeting brought together senior civic officials and contractors to address a range of issues, including sanitation shortcomings, the poor condition of public toilets, incomplete or delayed projects, and delays in payment of contractual staff salaries.
Commissioner Sharma took serious note of rising complaints and the deteriorating condition of public toilets across the city. Stressing that sanitation is a matter of civic dignity, he asserted in unequivocal terms that negligence in this area would not be tolerated. Contractors, he emphasized, are directly responsible for ensuring the regular cleaning, maintenance, and public accessibility of toilets.
During the meeting, several instances of incomplete and pending works were also highlighted. Expressing concern over the inconvenience caused to citizens, the Commissioner made it clear that contractors failing to meet deadlines would face strict penal action.
Addressing another pressing issue, Commissioner Sharma adopted a firm stance on delayed salary payments to contractual staff. Drawing attention to the demoralizing impact of such delays on workers, he instructed contractors to ensure that no employee’s salary is delayed beyond the 10th of any given month. He warned that any future complaints regarding salary delays would result in severe action against the responsible contractor.
