Traffic Restrictions for Heavy Vehicles Ahead of Shivrajyabhishek Ceremony 2025

📍 Raigad | Public Advisory | June 4, 2025

In view of the upcoming Shivrajyabhishek Ceremony 2025 at Fort Raigad, Raigad District Collector Mr. Kishan Jawale has issued a traffic ban notification for heavy and multi-axle vehicles along key routes surrounding the fort. The ban will be in effect from 4:00 PM on June 5 until 10:00 PM on June 6, 2025.

The restrictions apply to the following routes:

  • Mumbai–Goa National Highway: From Wakhan Phata–Nagothane to Kashedi Ghat
  • Mangaon–Nijampur–Pachad to Fort Raigad
  • Mangaon–Dhalghar Phata–Pachad to Fort Raigad
  • Mahad–Natekhind–Pachad to Fort Raigad

The ceremonial event on June 5–6 is expected to draw lakhs of Shiv devotees traveling from across the state—Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Mumbai, and other regions—many of whom will be arriving in private vehicles and buses. In addition, a large number of goods vehicles will be transporting event equipment and logistics.

Given the high volume of traffic, particularly along the Mumbai–Goa Highway and approach roads to Raigad, authorities have expressed concern over the risk of congestion and potential accidents, especially with the routine movement of heavy vehicles.

To ensure a smooth, safe, and dignified experience for all devotees and to prevent any traffic snarls or bottlenecks during the event, Collector Jawale has announced the precautionary traffic ban.

🚛 Exempted Vehicles:

The following essential service vehicles are exempt from the ban:

  • Milk tankers
  • Fuel (Petrol & Diesel) carriers
  • LPG delivery trucks
  • Ambulances
  • Medical supply vehicles
  • Oxygen supply tankers
  • Fresh vegetable and perishable goods carriers
  • Government emergency services (fire brigades, disaster response)

Collector Jawale has also directed the enforcement agencies to ensure strict implementation of the order during the specified time window.
