Accusation of Making Objectionable and Provocative Remarks That Could Create Communal Tension; Demand to Register FIR and Take Strict Action Against Nazia Ilahi Khan by Jamiat Jamatul Muslimeen Mahad–Poladpur Taluka

Mahad (Representative):

Alleging that certain objectionable and provocative statements were made that could create communal tension in society, a demand has been made to immediately register an FIR and take strict action against Nazia Ilahi Khan of Kolkata (West Bengal). This demand was submitted in a memorandum by the Jamiat Jamatul Muslimeen Mahad–Poladpur Taluka organization to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer and Police Inspector, Mahad.

The memorandum states that Nazia Ilahi Khan allegedly made objectionable and derogatory remarks about Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Ummul Momineen Hazrat Aisha (RA) during a broadcast program. It further states that these statements have hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community and may create unrest, tension, hostility, and communal disharmony in society.

It is also mentioned that such statements pose a potential threat to public peace, law, and order. The Constitution of India grants every citizen the right to practice, propagate, and protect their religion, and making derogatory or provocative remarks against revered religious figures, symbols, or beliefs is considered harmful to social harmony and national integration.

The memorandum demands that, based on prima facie evidence, a case be registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including Sections 196, 299, and 353(2), as well as applicable provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000. It further demands that, based on findings during the investigation, strict legal action be taken under all other applicable laws.

The memorandum was submitted in the presence of Jamiat Jamatul Muslimeen Mahad–Poladpur Taluka President Dildar Purkar, Secretary Dr. Faiyaz Kalsekar, Co-Secretary Iftikhar Lore, Treasurer Abdul Haq Khalfe, Mohammad Ali Palvakar, Mansoor Taj, Abdul Sattar Tare, Ayub Karvinkar, Mansoor Deshmukh, Liyakat Natuskar, Fahim Alekar, Imran Kauchali, Abdul Rahiman Duste, Hafiz Arif Jalal, Zaid Jalal, and other members.
